Biblical Variety: "Lessons from Gethsemane" - Dr. C. Dennis Williams As diverse as the Bible is, it is replete with a variety of a praying matrix, and motif's each one is different, but profound, there are prayers through song, audible prayers, inaudible prayers, short prayers, and long prayers, however; each one of these prayers has a central structure, and methodology, they all incorporate Adoration, Confession, Communion, Thanksgiving, and Supplication, all of these components are identified in Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Teaching Public Prayer to a Congregation - Brannon Hancock Scripture encourages us to "pray without ceasing." Such lives of constant prayer flow out of corporate worship, which might be understood as one continuous prayer - dialogue with the Father, led by the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Our task as worship leaders, therefore, is to teach this understanding of worship to our congregations, and to facilitate the act of public prayer. We will explore this topic together and share theological reflections, contextual considerations and practical advice.

Are You Attending God's Institute for Music in Worship? - Dr. Vernon Whaley God's plan for a dynamic relationship with Him is perpetuated & developed in our ministries as we teach our praise teams and musicians how to worship. The Bible already outlines this plan of action through the Mosaic, Davidic, and Pauline Schools of Worship. Listen as Dr. Vernon Whaley, Dean of the Liberty University School of Music explains shows how the origin, organization, operation, and opportunities of these three schools of worship serve as a Biblical model for discipling our own praise teams and musicians.
Story-Telling Music: The Gospel Sung - Dr. Jim Hart What is the gospel? Why is it important to worship? What is the foundational purpose of music in worship? Worship music, in fact the entirety of Christian worship and liturgy, should be rooted in scripture, specifically the Gospel, serving a formational value that far exceeds the issues of stylistic taste that may thin out the subversive good news of Jesus the Christ. Led by Jim Hart, President of the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, we will explore the role of music in serving the scriptural content of Christian worship.
Shaping our Speech and Song in Worship by the New Testament - Dr. Lester Ruth When contemporary Christians speak and sing in worship why don’t they sound more like the Bible? Specifically, when modern Christians speak and sing in worship why don’t they sound more like the Christians of the New Testament? If an apostle of the 1st century showed up at your church next Sunday, would they want to say “amen” to the content of your service? Lester Ruth, a worship historian at Duke Divinity School, will discuss some ways in which a close reading of the New Testament can enrich how we speak and sing in the worship of God.

Many times the worship team will opt for a digital piano over an acoustic for many reasons:
It’s not in tune.
The church doesn’t own the right kind or quantity of microphones.
I can’t isolate the piano from the drums, guitars and floor monitors.
I know, as a piano player , if a Steinway grand or good sounding upright were available, I might prefer it to the digital and the “fake” piano sound I always end up with and an action that feels nothing like a piano.
We’re going to demonstrate techniques that work in a live setting that will shed some light on how to make this work for you., if you dare!
Creating Visual Media for Worship - Jason Rumbough Often, we fail to realize the impact that media has on our worship services until it’s too late. In this highly practical track, we will discuss ways you and your church can overcome the visual obstacles through the use of creative visual media. Whether you are a volunteer tech director, a pastor, or a worship leader, you will not want to miss this track!
The Art of Mixing Production Video - Bobby Taylor In this class, we will look at the basics of producing a quality video production. Whether you are streaming video to the internet or sending a video feed to your local cable TV system, you should understand the basics of quality production. We will look heavily at what it takes to play the role of a Video Director. We will decipher the lingo and terminology of this area of ministry. From a camera operator’s standpoint, it will be important for us to review such things as cutting, dissolving, panning, push, pulls and much more. If you are new to a multi camera production or you desire to make your existing production better, this class is for you!

What to Say - Rich Kirkpatrick While we as worship leaders spend a lot of energy on our music skills, what we say matters, too. Should I just speak freely at the moment as the Spirit leads or should I write out my prayers? How do I stay true to who I am while communicating to the church what I know God wants to say to them? In this presentation, you will learn that authenticity counts! But, you will also learn that being authentic indeed requires some practiced communication skills. Whether it is leading a song transition, sharing a prayer or giving announcements growing in communication will significantly improve your effectiveness.
SING CHURCH SING - Stan Endicott Is Your Congregation actually singing during worship? Are they suppose to? What are the reasons they don’t sing? What can you do to insure that they do sing? There are practical things that inspire congregational singing. There are obvious things that keep them from singing. Let’s learn what we can do to “Sing to The Lord”.

The Road to the Future Runs through the Past: How Worship Communicates the Biblical Narrative (the Great Tradition) - Dr. Jim Hart Robert Webber wrote, “Worship does God’s story.” What does that mean, and why does that matter? Webber Institute for Worship Studies will lead a discussion on this topic as we journey the “road to the future that runs through the past.”
